We live with
our three Dobermans, Molly, Cricket and Greeter,
and one cat – Racquet -- in Highlands Ranch.
We purchased
our first Doberman seven years ago. We now
enjoy the conformation ring, obedience, rally
and agility. Our lives are dedicated to our
Dobermans, whether they’re strutting in the
conformation ring, challenging us in the
obedience/rally ring or just working hard to
prevent the family room couch from floating off
into space.
Sandi has been
secretary of the DPCRMA since February 2002 and
Neil has served as Vice President in the past.
I have
successfully competed, with my personal Dobermans,
in many events: show; obedience, through UD level
with OTCH points; agility; and Schutzhund. Dobermans
of my breeding (Renejade) have and are competing
successfully in tracking, flyball, agility,
obedience, free-style dancing and Schutzhund. I am
proud of the Renegades dogs that are certified and
used in Search and Rescue (SAR). I have enjoyed the
thrill of both an owner/breeder handled AKC all
breed Best In Show and an owner/breeder trained and
handled USA Schutzhund 3 all breed High in Trial.
My ultimate goal for the
Doberman Pinscher breed, is to achieve consistent
balance and versatility in our dogs. My objective of
improving Dobermans, must be factored in to every
venue: conformation, breeding, rescue, performance,
health, research; it must apply to show dogs,
service dogs and pets alike. By opening our eyes
and minds to the interests of others, we are able to
appreciate our own interests more fully and make
better choices for the
well-being of our dogs.
We share our home with two Dobermans and
one Great Dane in Highlands Ranch, Colorado. Julie has owned Dobermans her
whole life and spent many years as a Doberman rescue
foster home. Our two Dobermans are from England
(where we used to live) and therefore have natural
ears.
In the past, we have competed in
conformation (AKC, UKC, IABCA) but now that all our dogs
are 'fixed' and getting older, we are beginning to
venture into obedience, agility and whatever else we can
think of! We have been feeding our dogs a raw diet
for 6+ years (sometimes called a BARF diet) and can also
provide assistance on that topic. We are happy to
help novice owners learn more about the breed as we look
forward to learning even more from our friends in the
DPCRMA.
I currently own two
Dobermans: my incredible assistance dog Terra
and the young Ceili. I have previously owned,
showed and bred Smooth Fox Terriers and English
cocker spaniels. In addition, I have owned
and/or rescued a variety of breeds including
miscellaneous Toy, Terrier, and Sporting
breeds.
Among the dogs I
have owned, I showed a dog through Utility
obedience, obtained a Working Dog Excellent in
the field, and did a little bit of tracking and
earthwork. In addition, dogs of my breeding
have obtained multiple Group and Best in Show
wins.
I am now
interested in expanding my experience to IPO
work.
We got our first
Doberman in 1990, when we were looking for a
watchful dog to protect while my husband was
gone. We looked and just fell in love with
the Doberman. Over the years, we've added
Great Danes & Saint Bernards to our home but
it has been rare when we have been without a
Doberman as well. We have tried to be
well-rounded and include in our list of
"things we've done": Conformation,
obedience, rally, agility, and tracking.
Conformation is still my love, although all
my dogs are obedience trained even if they
don't compete.
Wilhelm & I feed
a raw or B.A.R.F. diet (Bones And Raw Food;
sometimes called the Biologically
Appropriate Raw Food diet). While we do
occasionally feed kibble, we feel that a raw
diet gives a more well-rounded diet for our
guys.
We love talking
dogs and would be willing to discuss
anything about them - including why we got
Danes & Saints as well as our Dobermans!
